This song explores the artists’ relationship with capitalism in the United States. The composition invites the listener into an introspective space with alternating vocal and instrumental sections, drawing from influences of 70’s funk/fusion by Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter as well as classic Hollywood film orchestration by Henry Mancini. The song features keyboards and a synth solo by Telemakus as well as vocals, keyboards, and horns by Ted Taforo and drums, and production by Efajemue.
This is the second single from the upcoming Jazz album by Ted Taforo and Efajemue.
The music in this collection includes songs which were written as recently as this past year and some which were written as long as ten years ago. We explored our relationship to space in terms of distance, as some songs were recorded live in person, others assembled remotely due the constraints of the pandemic. Our goal in the production of these compositions was to create organic material which blends elements of improvised language with processed electronic textures.
